About Trans Spokane
Trans Spokane was founded by transgender people in 2022. It started as a small meeting group in coffee shops with a vision of fostering social connections among local trans/gender expansive individuals. The organization has grown, but the vision remains the same: providing social support and community for trans/gender expansive people facing isolation.
Trans Spokane accomplishes this vision through weekly meetings (in person and virtually), an online Discord community, and outreach events that meet local needs. Our leadership team is entirely trans/gender expansive, a significant value that we hold to ensure our work is driven by the community we serve. We aim to meaningfully impact the local trans/gender expansive community by fostering lasting connections and providing tangible access to resources and support. Many members have shared that being part of our community has transformed their lives, a sentiment we have also experienced as organizers. Individuals who belong to a community tend to be happier and healthier, and we seek to offer vital access to this community for trans individuals from all backgrounds, providing them with a space to receive and extend support.
As our community grows, we have more resources and support. Relationships and friendships have flourished within the community, and gatherings occur frequently. This underscores the impact of our efforts to bring people together and lead with relationships first.
